"Le placard, c’est pour les balais" ("The Closet Is for Brooms") is an interactive digital activity, designed as a serious game, that aims to raise awareness among residents, staff, and management at private seniors’ residences (PSR) about abuse targeting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans (LGBT+) individuals, its consequences, and ways to prevent and address it. Here is the implementation kit for the serious game.

Every evening, Jean-Sébastien Girard stops by his neighbor’s house — his mother’s — to chat over a sweet treat and a glass of milk. This time, they’re discussing a topic far less pleasant than a little mint: elder abuse and abuse of vulnerable individuals. Through four short segments, they break down the issue in various ways.

DIRA-Estrie is an organization dedicated to combating elder abuse. It encourages older adults to speak out about their situation, informs them of their rights and available options, refers them to other resources as needed, and supports them through the process of putting an end to the abuse.

The Mistreatment Helpline is a provincial telephone line for listening, reference, and support specializing in the mistreatment of older adults and all adults in vulnerable situations.
Through their 24-hour helpline and information service, Interligne provides support to LGBTQ+ people, their loved ones, and professionals from various backgrounds. Interligne offers multiple services, including a helpline, discussion groups, helping relationship, programs for elderly people, and a phone legal clinic.
The Conseil québécois LGBT is your central reference for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans advocacy. Uniting over 80 organizations throughout Québec, this organization seeks to defend the rights of people who identify within the sexual and gender diversity. A few tools for advocating for the rights of LGBTQIA+ people are available online.
Fondation Émergence offers outreach and education programs to promote the well-being and the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans (LGBT) people. Their program Aging Gayfully advocates for the rights of LGBTQ+ elders and offers tools and training to support the creation of inclusive environments for elderly people.
GRIS Estrie’s mission is to foster a better understanding of sexual and gender diversity and to promote the integration of LGBT people into society.
"Proud, Prepared, and Protected" is a collection of online resources to assist people who identify as 2SLGBTQ+ to access and receive inclusive, respectful care. These resources were developed by people who identify as Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+, and more than 40 organizations, and the Canadian Virtual Hospice, to fill a national gap. This information is also helpful for allies, people working in healthcare and education, and communities.
