This webinar highlights some of the triumphs and challenges presented by the interconnections of ageing and 2SLGBTQIA+ identities. By working to increase our understandings of the diversity that exists within experiences of aging and support, we will open up opportunities to not only better support 2SLGBTQIA+ older adults but enhance the lives of Canadians as they age.

On January 26th, 2022, Egale Canada hosted a virtual Community Conversations for 2SLGBTQI Seniors: Focus on Dementia and Advance Care Planning session. The session brought together 2SLGBTQI older adults, advisory committee members, and a guest expert to share knowledge, experiences, and ideas. The session included two components: a presentation by a guest expert, and breakout room discussions. This educational guide was created as part of Fondation Émergence’s Ageing Gayfully program. Its objectives are as follows: raise awareness around the realities and needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) elders; offer solutions to make sure that these people have access to safer and welcoming environments.
