This guide aims to demystify trans, nonbinary, and Two-Spirit issues and lived experiences for volunteers working closely with seniors from these communities. A training workshop accompanies the guide to provide volunteers with concrete tools and strategies, with the aim of ensuring that trans, nonbinary, and Two-Spirit seniors receive care without fearing for their safety, dignity, and integrity. The closet is for brooms (Le placard, c’est pour les balais) is an interactive digital activity in the form of a serious game that aims to raise awareness among residents, staff members and leaders of private seniors’ residences (PSRs) around the topic of mistreatment suffered by lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT+) people, its consequences and the ways to prevent and fight it. On January 26th, 2022, Egale Canada hosted a virtual Community Conversations for 2SLGBTQI Seniors: Focus on Dementia and Advance Care Planning session. The session brought together 2SLGBTQI older adults, advisory committee members, and a guest expert to share knowledge, experiences, and ideas. The session included two components: a presentation by a guest expert, and breakout room discussions.
